Brief History of Scouting in Lewiston-Altura

Lewiston Cub Scout Pack 16 was first chartered in January, 1948 and has been continuously chartered for the last 70 years. Currently, Pack 16 is chartered under the Lewiston Lions Club. We offer programs for both boys and girls in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade (ages 5 to 10). Activities the Scouts participate in are the annual Pinewood and Space Derbies, Polar Cub Day Camp and various other outings.

The current Cubmaster is Mark Simon, a resident of Altura and has three boys in Scouts..

Lewiston Boy Scout Troop 18, first chartered in February 1952 and has been continuously chartered since 1981. At one time there were two Boy Scout Troops serving the Lewiston-Altura community, Troop 18 in Altura and Troop 16 in Lewiston, and I believe sometime between 1970-1980, the two Troops merged into Troop 18. Troop 18 is currently chartered under the Lewiston American Legion Post 90.

The current Scoutmaster is Darien Heimermann, a resident of Stockton, whose son is an Eagle Scout from Troop 18.
